...Video Edits...

I used a video that I had edited previously, but edited it further.
I included images so that they linked to the DVD Cover and Dvd Label.

...Frames 2..

At the back of the DVD Cover, I have put a a heart in front of 2 images. Some of the lines from the heart are overlapping into the bleed lines I am aware of this.

...Frames behind pictures...

In most 'Friends' DVDs they always have a frame, which looks like this:

but I used the Opacity tool to make the frame less visible and added on

...Main pictures...

I took the main picutres, of the 3 individual  below the main title from this picture:

Cropped the picture..using the select tool, I hovered the selection lines over each face so that the size would stay the same...

Like this:

I edited the pictures to become darker as well, so that they have the same shade.

...Title & Other Text...

I used the font tool to create similar titles to the 'Friends' TV program..
I could not use the exact font as it was not hard to find...but I ended up using 'MV boli' Font

For the name of the DVD Cover, I used the Horizontal Type Tool

...Background Edit...

For the background of the DVD Cover, I used the fill tool to make the background black. This makes the background plain, making the rest of the objects stand out.

...Image Edit..

To begin with I used the Magic Lasso tool to

 cut out the bits I needed from the image.

Then I used the feather tool to make the edges of the image smoother.

...Change of Ideas (and research of final idea)...

I have decided not to carry the idea of using romance as a theme but friendship instead.
This is because I feel that it would be difficult for me to get hold of a male and female character who will make the image look real. It would be easier to get a group of people to pose as friends.
I have decided to use the TV program Friends as something to refer back to.

 This photo represents love and freindship as the people are close together, smiling and being happy.
I chose this photo becasue I like what the frame represents, and the way that it has been layed out.

they have used portraits of the characters, making them more indiviudal than the other pictures where they are together.

...Initial Ideas...

Today I was brainstorming the ideas of what the outcome of my project would be and how I am to produce it...:

• For my project I  need to make the DVD label and cover similar, as I have found that this is what most DVD labels and covers are like.
• I am basing my ideas on romance films, meaning I would need a male and female as main characters and the focus of my images.
• If I am to make my own images, I need to consider a few points...:
• Would need to take photographs of the models I am to use
• Need to find locations for photography
• Be able to make the photographs look proffessional
• If I am to use already produced images from the net, I need to be aware of copyright issues
• I also would need to find images that would be suitable for the genre I have reseached
• I would need to record all the websites I have had ideas and images from

Most of the DVD labels seem to be completely covered by the still image from the film and the same as the DVD Cover.

...Dimensions...

To being the  assignment there needs to be a plan. This plan includes planning the dimensions of the DVD cover and label.
I had measurements I had to follow but had to remember to include bleeds areas, which will help me later on when cutting the out so that its more precise.

 To create the DVD cover and label I used Adobe Photoshop CS5.

I have chosen Romantic Comedy and Dance Genre.
When looking at the images  below, the feelings that are meant to be conveyed are positive, love, happiness...this is the type of emotion I plan ot bring out from my did cover.

 

 

The images on the covers are of the main characters, mostly male and female as they are the protagonists of the film.
They seem to be stills from the actual films... my image will have to be similar
